About the Program

The Ronald Reagan High School Band is one of Texas’s premier band programs.  The program is made up of the nationally acclaimed Marching Band, four Concert bands, jazz band, nationally competitive Chamber ensembles, and three nationally competitive Winter Guards.  Students also participate in the Reagan Orchestra program consisting of the Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Musical Pit Orchestra.

Students in the Reagan Band participate in the TMEA Region XII All-Region Band and Orchestra often resulting in recognition as members of the Texas All-State Bands and Orchestras.  The band often receives ‘Sweepstakes’ and ‘Superior’ Ratings at UIL events both in Concert & Sight-Reading and Solo & Ensemble contests.  In 2018, the Reagan Wind Ensemble performed at the 72nd annual Midwest International Band and Orchestra Clinic.  The Reagan Marching Band has been a consistent finalist at both Bands of America events and the UIL Texas State Marching Contest.  The Marching Band has won 13 Bands of America Championships, including the 2005 Class AAAA Grand National Championship, and the 2019 San Antonio Super Regional Championship with a score of (BOA Record) 97.3.  The Marching Band has also participated in both the 2018 Tournament of Roses Parade and the 2019 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

The Reagan Band would not be what it is without the massive support and investment made by our incredible private lesson staff.  These teachers specialize in their instrument and provide one-on-one instruction for students to help them advance in their level of mastery.  Our private lesson staff also lead masterclasses with instrument sections.  Many of the teachers also provide lessons at our feeder middle schools, Bush and Lopez, allowing students to move through grade levels with consistency and support.  The directors at Reagan highly recommend students to enroll in private lessons.  From flute to tuba to percussion, we have a private lesson instructor for your student!  If you have questions or need additional information about our private lesson staff, please contact Mr. Estrada Simon – testra1@neisd.net
