The Ronald Reagan High School Band is one of Texas’s premier band programs.  The program is made up of the nationally acclaimed Marching Band, four Concert bands, Jazz band, nationally competitive Chamber ensembles, and three nationally competitive Winter Guards.  Students also participate in the Reagan Orchestra program consisting of the Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Musical Pit Orchestra.

All students are part of the marching band during fall, they then perform in a traditional concert band or wind ensemble for the remainder of the school year.

The Road to Grand Nationals

Building on their legacy of success, this year the award-winning Reagan Band and Visual Ensemble will take their show, entitled “Not So Simple”, to the Bands of America Grand National Competition in November. This prestigious competition takes place in Indianapolis, IN at Lucas Oil Stadium from November 13-15th and features the best marching programs from across the country.  This season the Reagan Band and Visual Ensemble is composed of over 340 musicians, color guard performers and dancers, and the show features the song “Simple Gifts” as a recurring theme.

Every four years, The Reagan Band and Visual Ensemble compete at “Grand Nats”, a contest and trip which becomes a career highlight for many members of the program. This will mark the program’s eighth appearance at the signature high school marching competition in the United States. Additionally, the award-winning Reagan Band and Visual Ensemble will be celebrating its 25th anniversary of competing at the varsity level.

What makes us special?

The Ronald Reagan High School Band has a storied history of success.  Just as special as these accomplishments are, so are the relationships built in the band community.  Students form lasting friendships, develop as young leaders, and experience memories that will last a lifetime.  The bond in each section from woodwinds to brass to percussion to color guard and band dance is strong.  These students pour their energy and passion into the band program, and it shines through in their performances.

The community that supports the band donates countless hours to help with equipment, travel, meals, and more, all to help the band.  Many family and friends travel throughout the state and even across the country to support students as they perform.  Alumni frequently attend performances in support of the band.  People who become a part of the Reagan Band family are members for life.  Once a rattler, always a rattler.
